What is WP Campus Connect?

WP Campus Connect is a month-long initiative designed to bring the power of WordPress to college students across multiple campuses. By partnering with four different colleges, we aim to introduce students to WordPress through engaging and hands-on workshops. This event is part of a broader effort to cultivate the next generation of WordPress users and developers, helping them build valuable skills and explore potential career paths within the WordPress ecosystem.

Our Goal

The primary goal of WP Campus Connect is to empower students with practical WordPress knowledge and skills. We strive to create an engaging learning environment where students can not only learn how to build websites using WordPress but also discover the numerous career opportunities available within the WordPress community. By fostering a connection between educational institutions and the WordPress ecosystem, we aim to inspire and support the next generation of WordPress innovators.

Event Format

WP Campus Connect is structured as a series of workshops held over four weekends, with each workshop taking place at a different college campus. During these workshops, students will receive hands-on training in using WordPress to build websites, guided by experienced WordPress professionals. In addition to technical skills, students will gain insights into various career paths within the WordPress community, helping them to see the broader opportunities that WordPress offers.

Future Plans

WP Campus Connect is the beginning of a larger vision to empower students with WordPress skills and knowledge. Here are some of our plans for the future:

  • Ongoing Workshops and Training: This event is the first step toward a series of ongoing workshops and training sessions for students. We plan to use our Ajmer WordPress Meetup group as a platform to host regular workshops where interested students can continue to learn and enhance their skills.
  • Specialized Workshops: We aim to dive deeper into specific topics with focused workshops, including e-commerce website building, domain and hosting management, and SEO strategies. These workshops will provide students with specialized skills that are highly valuable in today’s digital landscape.
  • Centralized Events: While we’re currently visiting individual colleges, our future plan is to bring students from various campuses together at a common venue. This could evolve into a dedicated WordPress event for college students, featuring multiple workshops and networking opportunities.
  • Global Speaker Involvement: We envision inviting speakers from around the world to participate in our events, offering students diverse perspectives and insights into the global WordPress community.
  • Mentorship and Advanced Learning: Beyond workshops, we plan to establish a mentorship program connecting students with experienced WordPress professionals. This will help guide them through more advanced learning and career development.
  • Hackathons and Competitions: We aim to organize hackathons and competitions focused on WordPress, encouraging students to apply their skills in real-world scenarios and fostering a spirit of innovation and collaboration.
  • Collaboration with Industry Partners: In the long run, we hope to collaborate with industry partners to provide students with internship and job opportunities, helping them transition from learning to professional practice.

These future plans aim to create a continuous learning journey for students, helping them grow from beginners to skilled professionals in the WordPress ecosystem.
