ICT Teachers Association of Uganda (ITAU) is a network of teachers of ICT across all levels of education in Uganda. ITAU exists to promote ICT literacy and Integration in all subjects in Education and other spheres of daily life.
Between 2011 and 2017, Uganda Communications Commission organized several retooling workshops for ICT Teachers. ITAU was formed with the objective of building a supportive network of ICT teachers, sharing resources and providing continuity to the retooling program to impact more teachers countrywide.
MISSION
To be the lead engine in uniting, organizing and empowering teachers to share, innovate and advocate for ICT integration in education.
VISION
A society in which ICT Teachers are empowered to pass on relevant skills to all learners and support other teachers to effectively use ICTs in teaching and learning.
THE MOTTO
The motto of the Association is “Together Against Computer illiteracy”.
Since 2017, ITAU has played a key role in mobilizing teachers to attend WordPress events such as meetups and WordCamps, and even this year ITAU is supporting the Uganda Website Projects Competition by mobilizing teachers to prepare their learners from allover the country to submit projects and attend, and they have written an official invitation letter for this purpose.
