We want to bring together people who want to contribute to the WordPress project or who are already contributing. Don’t forget that simply organising meetups IS contributing! And if there isn’t an active meetup group in your area, we need you!
Translating WordPress or taking part in meetings on documentation, accessibility, diversity on Slack Make (a platform where contributors get together), and many other areas, is also contributing. So there’s a need for people who code and others who don’t! Don’t think “I’ve got nothing to contribute”! Find out more about contributing to WordPress here.
You’re welcome whatever your background, gender, sexual orientation, knowledge, language, etc. (see the code of conduct). The only requirement for this particular event is that you want to contribute to the WordPress project and learn how to do so. If you’re already contributing, there will be plenty of discussions about how to improve these processes.
The day’s programme
The day will start at around 09:30 and finish at around 17:30pm, to enable participants from most parts of Switzerland to travel from and back home the same day. For the others, there is a possibility of booking a hotel room in the same complex.
The programme is currently being drawn up, so if you are familiar with one of the subjects below, please contact us and ask to lead one of the discussions, some will be table discussions without any host.
- We will have 5 guests, chosen from among active contributors of the WordPress communities in France (Bruno Tritsch), Germany (Birgit Olzem and Mario Wolf), Italy (Francesco Di Candia) and Spain (Javier Casares), to discuss the different ways of contributing, especially at local level, in these countries, where the communities are very active. - The mentorship programme, to onboard new WordPress contributors, hosted by Patricia BT and Javier Casares (English).
- Exchanging ideas for organising WordPress meetups, how to reactivate dormant groups, how to get people back to meetup groups
- Creating a meetup in your region. Hosted by Michelle Bulloch (any language).
- How to bring diversity within events and among contributors, useful outside WordPress too. Hosted by Birgit Olzem (German or English) + Patricia BT (French or English).
- How to promote sustainability at WordPress events, useful outside WordPress too. Hosted by Patricia BT (French or English).
- How to attract young people and “pass the torch”? Hosted by Patricia BT and Liza Adjobi Otchoumou (French).

- Communication between the local community and the international community (establishing associations, communication, translations, tools, friction, etc.) Hosted by Mario Wolf (English).
